The principal doctrines of Christianity defended against the errors of Socinianism: being an answer to the Rev. John Grundy's lectures by Hare, Edward, Pages:   The term ‘Socinianism’ later became used for any kind of dissenting beliefs, whether good or bad, thus embracing false beliefs not originally found in the beginning.

The beliefs of this system are written into the Racovian Catechism, which rejected orthodox Christian teaching on God’s knowledge, the Trinity, the divinity of Christ, and on. Socinianism denies the doctrine of the Trinity--claiming it denies the simplicity of God's unity.

Instead, God is a single person with the Holy Spirit as the power of God. Since it emphasizes the unity of God, there could be no divine and human union in a single person as Christ. Socinianism, as well as all heterodox Unitarian theological beliefs, is irreconcilable with what God has personally revealed to us in His Word.

Socinianism rejects the clear, revealed teaching of the triune nature (Matthew John) of the. Doctrine is something that is taught; a principle or creed of principles presented for acceptance or belief; a system of beliefs. In Scripture, doctrine takes on a broader meaning.

In the Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology this explanation of doctrine is given: "Christianity is a religion founded on a message of good news rooted in the significance of the life of Jesus Christ. A further doctrine rejected by Socinianism is the belief in original sin.

Humans sinned, but were not born sinners with an inherent sin nature, according to its teachings. Socinianism was one of the early belief systems to accept the idea of open theism, the belief that God does not know everything that will happen in.

The Bible itself reveals those doctrines that are essential to the Christian faith. They are 1) the Deity of Christ, 2) Salvation by Grace, 3) Resurrection of Christ, 4) the gospel, and 5) monotheism. These are the doctrines the Bible says are necessary. Socinians confess this doctrine against a doctrine of original sin that describes Adam’s first sin as being passed to all of his posterity and.

When the early church underwent a schismthat does not mean that it changed its most important doctrines it means that it was a division of the church the Byzantine emperor refused to help the pope defend against Rome. In mainstream Christianity, the Devil (or Satan) is a fallen angel who rebelled against was expelled from Heaven and sent to Earth.

The Devil is often identified as the serpent in the Garden of Eden, whose persuasions led to the situation that Christian doctrine calls original sin and for which it sees Redemption by Jesus Christ as the cure. He is also identified as the accuser of. From the 's this Socinian thesis against natural religion was questioned by later Racovian Socinian theologians and with time their new views became recognized as the classical Socinian doctrine.

They attempted now to provide philosophical arguments for natural religion and develop a scriptural exegesis to support this view. Against Socinians, Arians, and all other enemies of the truth, the surest defence will be found to be the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

separate Christian ethics from natural laws, cutting Christianity free from political power and from the institutions and norms of human social life. Arguing in this way, the Socinians set themselves against a broad tradition of natural law thinking, according towhich God endorsed the principles of 2 Reason and Religion in the English Revolution.

CHAPTER XX Socinianism in Holland, – While we have seen in the previous chapter that two of the companies of Socinian exiles bravely maintained their churches for far over a century, it may already have been noticed that from all these exile colonies the roads seemed to lead at last to we are able to trace the influence of the Socinian spirit and teaching long after.

Socinianism (/ s ə ˈ s ɪ n i ə n ɪ z əm /) is a system of Christian doctrine named for Italians Lelio Sozzini (Latin: Laelius Socinus) and Fausto Sozzini (Latin: Faustus Socinus), uncle and nephew, respectively, which was developed among the Polish Brethren in the Minor Reformed Church of Poland during the 16th and 17th centuries and embraced by the Unitarian Church of Transylvania.

Socinianism represented an extreme attempt to reconcile Christianity with humanism. The doctrine of the Holy Trinity was rejected, the Scriptures were considered authoritative but were interpreted in the light of the new rationalism, and the sacraments were viewed as spiritual symbols.
